Remo wins 50th State Crown 19/12/09
It may have been his longest wait for victory, but Remo Luciani was last night officially declared the winner of the 2009 South Australian State Karting Championship for the Clubman Over 40s category.
The belated victory now means that Luciani can officially lay claim to have won 50 State Championships during his illustrious career.
The decision of the appeal by Luciani means that he remains undefeated in the Clubman Over 40s division at a State Championship level since 2006. During this time he has secured ten consecutive state crowns in the class.
"It is a big relief to have finally been awarded the win," said Luciani.
"It is the first time in my 30 years of being involved in karting that I have been in front of a tribunal, it is not a good feeling but I am pleased that the ruling went in my favour which allows me to proudly say I have still got an unblemished record.
"The Officials of the meeting were doing their job and policing the rules that are in place, I respect them for that. There appears as though there was a `grey´ area in a ruling on how it can be interpreted which is why it ended up at the tribunal.
"I believe that there are already measures being put in place to clean the wording of the rule up to ensure there can be no misinterpretation again."
As a father of three young children, Luciani understands the importance of role models and as the role model for many younger karters he is required to set an example.
"No matter who you are, you are never above the rules of the sport and if you are doing the wrong thing you should always be pulled up. As one of the role models in the sport I consider myself always very fair and someone that always adheres to the rules," said Luciani.
In other news from State Championship appeals it can also be confirmed that the placegetters in the Junior National Heavy class at the Western Australian State Championship has been finalised.
Adam Marjoram, who was able to accept his winner´s trophy on the day, remains unaffected by the outcome of the decision. Bunbury´s Jason Hounsfield is now officially the runner-up ahead of James French, local driver Matt Smith and Siobhan Sutherland.

CHANGE OF VENUE FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 9/07/09
The Barossa Go-Kart Club have announced a change of venue for the 2009 South Australian Open Sprint Kart Championships to be hosted by the Club on November 27- 29, 2009.
Originally scheduled to be held at the Liberty Oil Raceway in Nuriootpa the event will now be held at one of the most popular venues in Australia, the Bolivar Raceway. Located approximately 30 minutes North of Adelaide, the Bolivar Raceway is a real `driver´s´ circuit and has hosted a number of National and State Championships throughout the past 30 years.
The decision to move the event from the Barossa Go-Kart Club´s spiritual home in Nuriootpa isn´t one that has come easily for President Stephen Blee. "When hosting a State Championship in the modern era a Club has to look at more than just a race track but also the facilities and available space for karters and all of their equipment. Unfortunately, our venue just hasn´t got the space required and we couldn´t guarantee the neighbouring Rocland Wines, who we thank for their continued support, that using their land wouldn´t significantly impact on their business," said Blee.
"The Southern Go Kart Club has offered their facility and assistance to run the Championships, we have taken them up on their generous offer."
"As a result the Championships will be held at the Bolivar Raceway, it is truly a generous act and is evidence of the positive contribution that Southern Go Kart Club makes to karting in South Australia."
To assist with the build up to the Championships the Southern Go Kart Club will be holding the City of the Adelaide Titles four weeks prior on October 31st and November 1st.

Change of date for the Golden Power Series 31/03/2009
The Bendigo Kart Club would like to advise of a date and venue change for round two of the 2009 Golden Power Series.
Originally scheduled to be held on May 2/3 at the Bendigo circuit, this date has been moved to now become the final round of the series on November 21/22 at VACC Park in Melbourne.
“After much consideration and discussion it was believed that given the rescheduling of the Victorian Open Sprint Kart Championships to the second weekend in May entry numbers for round two, set for the weekend before, would have been seriously affected,” said Arnett.
“It was therefore chosen to move the date to later in the year, however, this meant that we had to also move the venue as the Bendigo club has committed to upgrading it’s facilities later this year.
“On behalf of the Bendigo Club I would like to thank the Go-Kart Club of Victoria for their assistance in working with us and the Golden Power Series organisers on this matter.”
The new scheduled dates for the Golden Power series are as follows:
Round 2 - Rochester on July 11/12th.
Round 3 - Eastern Lions November 8/9th
Round 4 - Bendigo (to be held at VACC Park) November 21st/22
The series raffle prizes and engines will be drawn on the Saturday on November 21 at VACC Park where a spit roast will available.
Competitors MUST have competed in all four rounds of the series and be in attendance to win the raffle prizes and engines.
In replacement of the rescheduled event, the Bendigo Kart Club will be holding a Charity meeting Saturday May 2nd at the Bendigo kart track. All proceeds will be donated to the Bendigo Bushfire relief appeal. The Supplementary Regulations for this event will be out soon.
Any enquires can be made to the Club President - Craig Arnett on 0419545411 or the Race Secretary - Harold Arnett on 03 54496207.

Victorian Open Championships Postponed - AKA Press Release 13/02/09
The Executive of the Victorian Karting Association (VKA) has decided to postpone this weekend’s Victorian Open Sprint Kart Championships, scheduled for the Hume International Raceway in Puckapunyal, because of the fire conditions in surrounding areas.
The decision is one that was not made lightly, but has been made in the best interests of the safety of AKA members and the local communities.
Considering the high level of demand for resources, especially the emergency services, within the region to assist those who have been affected combined with a number of road closures still in place and the pressure being placed on accommodation houses, the VKA Executive believe that the decision is in the best interest of the sport and the region.
“It is unfortunate that we have had to postpone this weekend’s Event, however, I’m sure all members would agree that at this point in time the support for the victims of the bushfires is the most important issue,” said VKA President David Murray. “The Eastern Lions Kart Club have worked tirelessly to prepare for this Event and it is inopportune we have had to make this decision.
“The safety of the karters and the communities surrounding Puckapunyal needs to be our number one priority.
“The Club had the full support of the Mitchell Shire Mayor to run the Event and Puckapunyal hasn’t been directly affected by the bushfires, however, it is more the people and the surrounding towns that needs to be taken into account.
“Until today, the full extent of the impact of having a large number competitors in the region wasn’t fully known. Given that there is now over 5,000 people homeless added to the death toll and a number of road closures still in place, we have a community responsibility to uphold not to take up resources that could be better used by helping those affected.
“We sincerely apologise to those competitors who have travelled interstate to attend this Event but I’d hope that everyone understands that this decision is not one that has been made lightly and is in the best interest of the sport.” The VKA and the ELKC would like to encourage all members to support the bushfire relief funds throughout the country as their thoughts and prayers go out to those who
have been affected by this tragedy.
A rescheduled date will be advised for the Event when appropriate.
