About Us
The Begining
Melbourne Kart Centre is the newest kart shop in Melbourne and was raised from the ruins of previous kart shops in the area. Brothers Steve and Roger Polak decided to turn their passion for karting into a retail kart shop in December 2002. Roger has been racing on and off since 1988, having competed in classes including Reed Light, Reed Heavy, Intercontinental A, Clubman Heavy and more recently Leopard 125. Steve started racing later on and has been a regular Clubman Super Heavy driver for the last few years. Roger has also been mechanic for drivers including Remo Luciani and Timm Weitzel over the years.
Here to win
In building Melbourne Kart Centre we wanted to focus heavily on competitive karting and so it was important for us to be actually racing, rather than just standing on the sidelines offering advice. You can ask us what setup to run on a given day and we can answer based on what we are experiencing ourselves. We are also happy to share setup information gained within the team with our customers. So if a particular tyre pressure, chassis setup or gearing is working for us, then our customers will have that information too!
Starting karting
But aside from racing at the highest level, Melbourne Kart Centre takes great pride in being able to introduce newcomers to the sport and giving them a guiding hand through their first laps. We are available at the tracks too, to offer advice or tuition so that you can learn the craft of karting quickly and with minimal trouble.
The right stuff
Most importantly we can point you in the right direction when buying a kart or accessories, so that you get the right equipment first time and don’t waste money on sub-standard karts, engines or parts. Melbourne Kart Centre stocks Trulli Kart, Tecno and Monaco GP4 karts, which have all proven themselves as winners on the track. These are also the karts we race and so we can back you up with technical advice to help you get the most out of your new kart. We also have a great range of second hand karts, which have all been checked by us before sale. Where possible we source second hand karts from customers we already know, so that we can vouch for the history of the kart.
Plenty of power
When it comes to engines we stock all the popular items including Yamaha KT100S ‘Clubman’ engines, Yamaha KT100J ‘ National’ engines, Leopard 125, Rotax 125 and Comer S80. New for 2006 we announce that we will be supplying MKC Engines! MKC Engines will be built be three engine builders, so from now on you will have a choice. We will be using the services of Graham Ritter and Grant Lindstom to build all our race engines and our customer's engines too. More choice will mean better service for all our MKC Engines customers!
Location, Location, Location!
Melbourne Kart Centre is the closest kart shop to the Oakleigh Raceway and we have everything on hand to keep you going at the track. If fact it's only 700m from the Oakleigh front gate to our driveway!
